Johann Strauss II (1825-1899) - the height of the Viennese ballroom; a fast and lively Bohemian dance of Polish origin, danced to traditional German 'oom-pah' music in 2/4 time. The basic movement is characterised by three steps and a hop.
This rhythmic piece features chant and percussion with a positive panoramic feel. It is based on a Zulu traditional percussion pattern, the male chant is also a Zulu feature.
