During the latter half of the 1800s, an exciseman named Alexander Carmichael was befriended by the tinker people. Carmichael later published a collection of these travellers' prayers, stories, invocations and healing rites under the title 'Carmina Gadelica'. Arranged for four part a cappella voices.
