A sustained string ensemble begins with great hushed solemnity and gradually develops into something richer, more powerful, and mysterious. @ 1:46 the opening melody is reprised but now with a full string orchestra. @ 3:11 the chant-like melody plays one last time, in unison until @ 3:36 unexpectedly blossoming into a major chord.
